Minister of Housing and Water, Hon. Collin D. Croal, is actively engaging with residents of Barasina in the Mabaruma sub-region of Barima-Waini as part of the government’s commitment to community-driven development. This engagement encourages residents to voice their concerns and contribute to local and national advancement.

Joining Minister Croal are Regional Chairman Mr. Brentnol Ashley, Regional Executive Officer Mr. Sewchand, and Mr. Ramchand Jailal, Director of Hinterland Services at Guyana Water Incorporated.
During the meeting, Minister Croal announced exciting news for Barasina: the community will soon benefit from the drilling of a new well. The contract for this project has been awarded, and the contractor has begun mobilization efforts. Drilling will first take place at Hobo Hill, followed by Barasina.
“We work every day to uplift the lives of our citizens,” Minister Croal emphasized.
Residents raised various concerns, particularly regarding education. In response, Regional Chairman Ashley committed to sending a team to Barasina within the week to begin addressing these challenges.
Minister Croal highlighted that over the past four years, approximately $92 million has been invested in Barasina through various grants and development initiatives. This year, the community is set to benefit from a new initiative providing $3 million for housing upgrades aimed at vulnerable residents, alongside an additional $1 million allocated for the development of community grounds.
Additionally, the universal health voucher distribution is ongoing at the meeting, further supporting the community’s needs.
