  • News

Police ranks from the Mabaruma Police Station conducted a successful roadblock exercise on Thursday, August 21, 2025, resulting in the discovery of 120 grams of suspected narcotics.

The operation took place between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM, during which officers stopped a black Toyota Fielder Wagon driven by a 25-year-old taxi driver from Hosororo Hill. Accompanying him were a 24-year-old male and 38-year-old Alexton Saul.

While informing the occupants about the search for illegal items, officers observed suspicious behavior that prompted Corporal Roopram to direct them to exit the vehicle for a search. During the search, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis was discovered concealed in Saul’s crotch.

Saul was informed of his offense of possessing narcotics with the intent to traffic and was subsequently arrested. He, along with the narcotics, was taken to the Mabaruma Police Station, where the substance was weighed and confirmed to be 120 grams.

The narcotics were placed in a self-sealing evidence bag marked DR 61 2025 and properly documented. Saul remains in custody as the investigation continues.
