A 15-year-old woman from Berbice, Tiana Chapman, is fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit of the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after being stabbed 25 times by the father of her child. Tiana, from Pepper Street, Heat Burn Village, East Bank Berbice, was discovered wrapped in a blood-soaked sheet and transported to the hospital following the violent incident.

Her aunt, Donzel Denhert, reported that she learned about Tiana’s condition from her nephew around 9:00 PM on Tuesday. When she arrived at the scene, located just a street away, it was evident that Tiana had sustained severe injuries.
The stabbing reportedly took place around 8:00 PM at the suspect’s cousin’s house. With Tiana’s mother working in another region, she had been taking care of her younger siblings. Tiana and her 28-year-old child’s father, who also lives in the same village, had been in a relationship for some time, resulting in the birth of their 10-month-old child.
Donzel disclosed that Tiana suffered 25 stab wounds and expressed a strong desire for police to investigate the incident thoroughly. “We want them to catch this boy. They have to catch him,” she urged.
The relationship has been complicated by police involvement and Welfare services due to Tiana’s age. Donzel mentioned that Tiana had previously reported instances of abuse. “Long he was going around with her, and they talked to him and told him to stay away from her, but he isn’t staying away. This is it. All we do is talk to her, and she don’t listen. When he goes away and comes back, he’s looking for her, walking behind her all over the place,” she recounted.
The suspect is currently on the run, and the specifics leading up to the stabbing remain unclear. Attempts to contact Region Six Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus for additional details about the incident have been unsuccessful.
