18-Year-Old Remanded for Murder of 16-Year-Old Reyna Depeazer

An 18-year-old man has been remanded to prison for the murder of 16-year-old Reyna Depeazer, who was tragically struck by a stray bullet during a shooting incident last week at Mango Lane, East Ruimveldt.

Travel Daniels, also known as ‘Hammer’, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. The indictable charge was read to him, and he was remanded until August 20, 2025, without needing to enter a plea.

The charge alleges that between July 21 and July 23, Daniels murdered Depeazer. According to police reports, she was socializing with a friend on a motorcycle around 11:25 p.m. on July 21 when Daniels allegedly drove up in a white Fielder wagon (PYY 2896).

After exiting the vehicle with a handgun, Daniels approached another motorcyclist parked nearby, leading to an argument. During the altercation, he reportedly discharged the weapon, striking Depeazer in the neck. She collapsed, and the suspect fled the scene.

Emergency services arrived promptly and transported Depeazer to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery but tragically succumbed to her injuries on July 24.

Daniels was apprehended just hours after the shooting, around 1:00 a.m. on July 22, on Mandela Avenue while still in the Fielder wagon. He was cautioned, arrested, and taken into custody. Despite a search of him, his vehicle, and his home, the firearm used in the incident was not located. He has been swabbed for gunpowder residue and remains in custody as investigations continue.
