Police are currently investigating the discovery of 513 grams of suspected cannabis found on the southern side of the New Amsterdam Prison on Monday afternoon. The find occurred around 15:10 hrs when a prison officer, acting on a tip-off, conducted a search of the area.
During the search, the officer uncovered leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis. Following the discovery, the police were notified, and the suspected narcotics were handed over for further examination.
The substance was taken to the Central Police Station, where it was weighed and confirmed to be 513 grams. Authorities have since lodged the suspected cannabis as evidence while continuing their investigation into the matter.
