Officers from Regional Police Division No. 2 are intensifying their traffic education and enforcement efforts as part of their commitment to improving road safety for all users. On June 11, 2025, a rapid traffic enforcement exercise was conducted to address reckless driving and reduce the number of accidents.

During this initiative, police issued a total of 25 tickets and made 47 cases against various traffic violations. The infractions included:
Unlicensed Driver
Failure to wear a seatbelt
Breach of insurance
Failure to produce a driver’s license
Failure to wear safety helmets
Leaving a motor vehicle in a dangerous position
Stopping within 30 feet of a corner
Uncertified motor vehicle
Carrying more passengers than allowed
Unlicensed motor vehicle
Vehicle Clamping Introduced
In a further effort to enhance road safety, Regional Police Division No. 2 has introduced a vehicle clamping initiative. This measure targets drivers who leave their vehicles parked unattended for extended periods, obstructing other road users. The first clampings took place at Supenaam Waterfront and in the Charity district, where officers from the traffic department actively enforced this new regulation.
These initiatives reflect the police’s ongoing dedication to maintaining safe roadways and ensuring compliance with traffic laws in the Essequibo Coast area. Community members are encouraged to adhere to traffic regulations to contribute to safer roads for everyone.
