1. Position: Assistant Driller
- Location: Head Office/Hinterland
- Department: Operations/Hinterland
- Reports to: The Driller
Job Purpose and Description: The Assistant Driller is responsible for supporting and assisting drilling crews in the drilling of water wells and the exploration of groundwater.
Job Responsibilities:
- Rig up, down, and operate drilling activities.
- First line maintenance of mud pumps.
- Monitor and operate equipment for mud pumping.
- Assist in raising and lowering casing, drill pipe, and tubulars.
- Conduct pump tests, ravel packing, and installation of well discharge.
- Perform administrative tasks and paperwork associated with drilling operations.
- Undertake works in the development and maintenance of water supply systems.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the purpose of the post.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to read and write.
- At least 1 year of previous drilling experience.
- Should have a civil-mechanical background.
- High school education or equivalent.
Physical Abilities:
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Work at heights for continuous or long periods.
- Good balance, coordination, strength, endurance, and a strong safety attitude.
2. Position: Hinterland Engineer
- Reporting to: Executive Director of Hinterland Services/Hinterland Manager
- Staff Reporting: Regional Technician Engineers/Clerk of Works
Purpose of the Job: To manage the operations and improvement programs in the Hinterland.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for planning and managing the operation and improvement programs.
- Implement the technical infrastructure aspects of the Programme for the Hinterland.
- Plan and manage the implementation of new construction, rehabilitation, and operation and maintenance.
- Prepare annual work plans, monitor progress, and ensure staff management and development.
- Manage contracts, financial aspects, communication, networking, and coordination.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and contribute to reports to donors.
Key Competencies:
- A degree in Engineering or considerable work experience in low-cost water supply.
- At least three (3) years of work experience since graduation, preferably in water supply.
- Good team member with the ability to lead when necessary.
- Experience of working in the Hinterland.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
3. Position: Craftsman
- Requirements:
- Craft Certificate in Plumbing.
- One (1) year experience in maintaining water distribution system.
4. Position: Mobile Operator
- Requirements:
- Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Three (3) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- A motorcycle to be used in the performance of duties.
5. Position: Laborer/Sewer Maintenance Worker
- Requirements:
- Primary and/or Secondary Education.
- Physically fit.
- Must be a team player.
