The 88-year-old husband of Lackandai Tamessar, the slain Ogle resident, has undergone a psychiatric evaluation as police continue their investigations into her alleged homicide.

As part of the investigative process, the elderly man was interviewed by detectives before being escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for a psychiatric assessment. A report from the evaluation has been submitted to investigators, and he has since been returned to the Sparendaam Police Station pending further inquiries.

Tamessar, 89, was found dead at her home on Ogle Airstrip Road, East Coast Demerara, with multiple stab wounds. Police believe the incident took place between December 26, 2025, around 16:00 hours, and December 30, 2025.

Investigators noted that the last confirmed sighting of Tamessar was on December 26, when a relative visited her. Upon returning on December 30, the same relative discovered her lying motionless with visible stab wounds. She was rushed to the Plaisance Health Centre, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has since been transferred to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have revisited the crime scene to conduct further investigations, and exhibits and samples collected from the area have been submitted to the Guyana Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2026, as authorities work diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding Tamessar’s tragic death.
