The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) has issued a statement addressing concerns regarding the prosecution of Daniel Wharton, known as “Baby Skello.” The ERC clarified that it had no involvement in this legal matter.

In a recent announcement, the ERC confirmed that it received formal invitations on May 14 and May 23, 2025, from Mr. Wharton to appear before the commission to discuss issues concerning his case. However, the ERC stated that it was unable to intervene as the prosecution is under the jurisdiction of the court.

Despite the ERC’s position, several members of the public have expressed concerns about the implications of the case, particularly regarding ethnic relations in the community. The Commission has reiterated its commitment to fostering mutual respect and understanding among all ethnic groups in Guyana.
ERC Chairperson emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication and urged the public to engage constructively while respecting the legal process.
For further updates and information, the ERC encourages the community to remain informed through official communications.
