In a Letter Dated June 28, 2025, Onix A. Duncan formally announced his resignation from the Alliance For Change (AFC) and affiliated roles in a letter addressed to General Secretary Raphael Trotman.

In his resignation, Duncan stepped down from three positions:
Chairman of the East Coast Demerara Regional Management Committee
Vice President of the AFC
Member of the AFC
Duncan’s decision follows a period of “deep reflection and growing discontent” with the party’s current trajectory. He criticized the leadership for failing to create an inclusive environment and for not adequately engaging members. He also expressed concerns about the formation of a faction known as the “Better Must Come” initiative, which he believes may overshadow broader unity within the party.
Additionally, Duncan mentioned that the leadership’s approach has led to indecision and has marginalized voices within the party, further eroding the principles he originally joined to uphold.
In closing, he reaffirmed his commitment to a political culture rooted in inclusivity and urged remaining members to chart a better course for the AFC, emphasizing the need for change.
Duncan’s resignation highlights ongoing tensions within the party as it navigates its future direction.
