Daily Express Reports : A tragic shooting incident in the Tarodale community has left a young man dead. Georgio Young, a resident of Hope Street, was shot and killed near his home on Thursday. He was just two weeks away from celebrating his 24th birthday.

The shooting took place around 2:30 p.m. on Persistence Avenue. According to police reports, witnesses observed Young engaged in a conversation with another man beneath a house when a scuffle ensued. During the altercation, a firearm fell from the man’s hands to the ground. He then picked it up, racked it, and fired several shots at Young, who fell into a concrete drain nearby.
The assailant fled the scene in a southerly direction along Persistence Avenue and remains at large. Young’s family members quickly transported him to San Fernando General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:09 p.m.
The body has been moved to the hospital’s mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park. Crime Scene Investigators recovered two live rounds and one spent round of nine-millimeter ammunition from the scene.
Detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, including Superintendent Persad and Jaikaran, ASP Maharaj, and several other officers, responded promptly to the incident. WPC Rampersad is currently leading the investigation.
The community mourns the loss of a young life, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
