Update: Fatal Collision Claims Life of East Coast Demerara Man

A tragic accident on Saturday evening resulted in the death of 43-year-old Kevindra Tularam after the vehicle he was driving collided with a stationary lorry on the Good Hope Public Road.

The collision occurred around 6:50 PM and is currently under investigation by local authorities. According to initial reports, a motor lorry (registration #GAF 4657), operated by a 29-year-old truck driver from Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, was parked on the Good Hope Railway Embankment Road, facing west. The driver had activated the hazard lights after hearing an unusual sound from the vehicle and sent his porter to investigate.

Moments later, the driver felt a sudden impact at the rear of the lorry. Upon exiting the vehicle, he discovered that Tularam, a resident of Lot 20 David Rose Scheme, Unity, had crashed into the back of the truck.

Tularam suffered severe injuries from the collision. Quick-thinking bystanders helped extricate him from the wreckage and placed him in a police vehicle, which rushed him to the Enmore Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His body is currently at the hospital mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination. The lorry driver underwent a breathalyser test, which revealed no alcohol in his system, and he has been taken into custody as police investigations continue.
