President Irfaan Ali Launches PPP/C 2025 Election Campaign with Promises of Unity and Development

  • News

President Irfaan Ali, seeking a second term in office, promised a future grounded in “unity, results, and vision” during the launch of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) 2025 election campaign on Sunday afternoon. Addressing thousands of supporters at the PPP market square, he emphasized that the PPP remains the “engine of development, growth, and prosperity” for all Guyanese.

In his speech, President Ali highlighted the critical role of visionary leadership, expressing his admiration for Vice President and PPP General Secretary Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo. “My greatest honour is to share the stage with the greatest legend of modern-day politics in Guyana,” Ali stated, pledging that they would continue to work together for the benefit of the people.

Ali rallied the crowd, referring to the PPP’s strong support base as the “red army,” and noted that their achievements speak volumes. He cited the country’s status as the fastest-growing economy in the world, the distribution of over 50,000 house lots, and efforts to position Guyana as a hub for oil and gas, food production, and tourism.

“We are building bridges, not barriers – from coast to coast, region to region,” he declared. “We don’t promise castles in the sky. We do what we say.”

The president urged Guyanese to transcend racial and political divides. “When I look across this crowd, I don’t see African Guyanese, Indian Guyanese, Amerindian Guyanese, or Portuguese. I see the One Guyana we are building,” he said.

Addressing the opposition, President Ali criticized their tendency to bring “excuses and hardship,” contrasting it with the PPP’s focus on “results and hope.” He emphasized that while oil brings revenue, true wealth is generated through effective policies.

“Our plan is to widen the income base of every family, to invest in human capital, and to create opportunities beyond salaries,” President Ali asserted.

The campaign launch marks the beginning of the PPP/C’s efforts as they prepare for the upcoming elections, with President Ali promising a commitment to delivering tangible results for all Guyanese.
