Trevor Achia, a 42-year-old fisherman from Phase 1, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, was arrested and charged on July 14, 2025, for inflicting grievous bodily harm, in violation of Section 50 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Achia appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on July 17, 2025. During the proceedings, the charge was read to him, and an application for bail was submitted but ultimately denied. As a result, Achia was remanded to prison.
The case has been adjourned to August 15, 2025, for further proceedings.
