Bartica – Deetnarrine Prahalad, a 60-year-old resident of Third Avenue Bartica, appeared in the Bartica Magistrate Court on Wednesday before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed. He was charged with driving a motor vehicle while his breath alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

Prahalad pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200,000. Alternatively, he faced a sentence of three months in prison if he failed to pay the fine. This case underscores the ongoing efforts to enforce road safety and combat driving under the influence in the region.
