Police are actively investigating the murder of Jenel Pollydore, a 26-year-old teacher from Lower Kara Kara, Linden, allegedly committed by Shaka Vaughn Phillips, the 21-year-old father of her children. The incident occurred around 9:20 PM on Saturday at the R & R Hotel in Central Amelia’s Ward.

Enquiries revealed that Pollydore and Phillips had been living together and share three children. Due to ongoing physical abuse, she had separated from him and reportedly obtained a restraining order.
According to Pollydore’s niece, Malika Pollidore, the victim was at a wedding reception when the suspect approached her at the hotel gate. An argument ensued over unanswered phone calls, during which Phillips allegedly drew a handgun and fired a shot at her.
Pollydore fled into the hotel’s pool area, with Phillips pursuing her and firing two additional shots. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Emergency services were summoned to the scene. Upon police arrival, they found Pollydore motionless on the ground. An examination revealed two gunshot wounds: one on the right side of her face and another on the back of her head. Two spent 9mm shells were recovered from the scene.
The body was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
Authorities are currently searching for Phillips as investigations continue. The police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. Further updates will be provided as the investigation develops.
