Geeta Chandon-Edmond, a former Member of Parliament for the opposition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), took to the stage at the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) rally on Sunday, urging supporters to “vote for the cup” in the upcoming elections on September 1, 2025. The “cup” symbolizes the ruling party.

“Don’t gamble your future, don’t gamble the future of your children… vote for the only party that has delivered,” she declared to the crowd gathered at the party’s signature rally in Region Six.
Chandon-Edmond crossed the floor of the National Assembly on June 2, 2025, to endorse President Dr. Irfaan Ali for a second term, stating, “I am back at home… I am here with pride.”
Reflecting on her journey, she asserted, “I have seen both sides, and I can tell you—without fear, without favor, without apology—that the PPP is the only party that will take us forward.” As a candidate on the PPP’s list for the upcoming elections, she emphasized the party’s visionary leadership as essential for Guyana’s future.
“We cannot turn a blind eye to what we are seeing—it is right before you. The transformation is not a promise; it is a reality. It is tangible, and you can feel it,” she said.
Chandon-Edmond highlighted the numerous opportunities created for young people under the current administration, noting that the PPP/C has not only fulfilled its promises but continues to deliver on various fronts, including healthcare, drainage, and housing.
“We are building the future for every single one of you,” she said, expressing that the PPP/C has instilled renewed hope and pride in the Guyanese people.
She concluded her remarks by praising President Ali and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo for their bold leadership and vision, reinforcing the message that the PPP/C is committed to moving Guyana forward.
