At a vibrant campaign launch on Saturday night in her hometown, Juretha Fernandes, the Prime Ministerial Candidate for the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), unveiled her picks for several key positions ahead of the September 1, 2025 elections. Speaking at the popular Futu Square, Fernandes urged supporters to carefully consider the leadership team behind the candidates they choose.

“When you think about voting for people, you have to look at their slate and be able to identify who their Attorney General could be,” she emphasized, hinting at the importance of a strong leadership team.
She specifically mentioned Dexter Todd, stating, “I don’t know about other people, but I saw a guy there named Dexter Todd.” Todd, a lawyer, represents a fresh face on the political scene.
Fernandes also proposed former senior police officer Paul Williams as a potential Minister of Home Affairs or Public Security. “If we want to change it back, we need to consider who that person would be. I don’t know about y’all, but I saw Paul Williams there,” she said, highlighting his experience and suitability for the role.
Additionally, she identified Nima Flue-Bess as a possible leader for the sports portfolio. “We have got to design things when it comes to sports. Nima has been there on the ground. She’s from Mocha,” she noted. Flue-Bess previously served as the shadow Culture, Youth and Sport Minister during the last Parliament.
Fernandes’ remarks are part of APNU’s early pitch to voters in Bartica, a crucial battleground where the party has historically enjoyed strong support but faces increasing competition. As the election approaches, Fernandes is positioning her team to resonate with the electorate, highlighting their qualifications and commitment to addressing key issues.
