President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali criticized the political rivals of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), asserting that while they may attempt to emulate the party’s policies, they fundamentally lack the competence and leadership necessary to implement them effectively.

Speaking to a large crowd at the Industry Market Square during a public meeting, President Ali emphasized the importance of understanding economic mechanics over mere rhetoric. “It is not a simple matter where you write a series of words or sentences on paper. It is about your ability to understand how the economy works,” he stated.
The president highlighted the PPP/C’s achievements, noting that the party has consistently turned ideas into reality, delivering tangible results that set them apart from their rivals. He pointed out, “They shout no cash grant, but the PPP/Civic brought cash grants before oil and gas. We increased it even before oil and gas; the government that came after us took away the cash grant, despite the oil and gas boom.”
In his address, President Ali also warned supporters and the Guyanese public regarding the upcoming 2025 general and regional elections. He emphasized that the electoral process should not be treated like a “monopoly game” or a “get-out-of-jail card.”
“We must not for once believe that this is a monopoly game. We have a track record. And when you back a team, it must be backed up by its track record,” he asserted.
He reassured the thousands in attendance that the PPP/C has always stood by the people during both good and challenging times, promising that this commitment will continue in the next term.
