Venezuelan Woman Charged with Break-and-Enter and Larceny, Case Dismissed

Yusmelis Solis, a 23-year-old Venezuelan national and nail technician, was arrested on July 22, 2025, and charged on July 24 with break-and-enter-and-larceny. The charge was brought against her by a rank from the Beterverwagting Police Station, under Section 229(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01.

The alleged offense took place at the home of Vickram Singh, a 43-year-old businessman from Mon Repos North, between July 19 and 20, 2025. Singh reported that items valued at approximately $3,500,000 Guyanese dollars and US$2,850 were stolen.

Today, July 28, 2025, Solis appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court before Her Worship Abigail Gibbs. The charge was read to her through an interpreter, and she pleaded not guilty. However, during the proceedings, Singh informed the court that he would not pursue the matter, leading to the dismissal of the case.
