Marlon Malcolm, a 21-year-old prison officer attached to the Lusignan Prison and resident of Lethem, was arrested on July 24, 2025, and charged with serious offenses related to narcotics.

Malcolm faced two charges:
Introducing Narcotics into Prison, contrary to Section 7(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, Chapter 10:10.
Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10, specifically involving 124 grams of cannabis.
Today, he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce. Malcolm pleaded guilty to the first charge and not guilty to the second.
As a result, he was sentenced to three years and six months of imprisonment and imposed with a $30,000 fine.
