General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and Vice President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, addressed thousands of supporters at a rally in Wismar on Sunday, announcing an impressive $18 billion investment in road infrastructure over the past two years.

“We promised to spend more money in your communities, and in the last two years alone, you had $18 billion spent on building roads,” Dr. Jagdeo stated, emphasizing the benefits of smoother roadways and the creation of approximately 700 jobs for individuals involved in these projects.
As the PPP/C administration prepares to roll out the second phase of development for 2025 and beyond, Dr. Jagdeo assured residents of Linden that more opportunities are on the horizon. “There will be new opportunities because when we start building the concrete drains here in Linden and across the country, many more will get contracts,” he noted.
Dr. Jagdeo also outlined plans for the next term, promising improvements in education, healthcare, and job opportunities for youth. He revealed that $30 million will be allocated to upgrade the Linden Regional Hospital into a state-of-the-art facility, enhancing healthcare services for the community.
In addition, he mentioned plans for a special development bank aimed at helping young people establish their own businesses. “We are going to tackle the cost of living to make sure that we bring down costs. We will put more money in people’s pockets,” he affirmed, promising increases in government grants and pensions.
As the election season approaches, Dr. Jagdeo urged voters to support a party with a clear vision for Guyana’s future. “We are a party of substance, a party that is offering a future for every Guyanese,” he concluded.
