“My son was returning from the Shop”- Grieving Mother of Sahil Naipaul

News Room Reports : In a heartbreaking incident on Tuesday morning, nine-year-old Sahil Naipaul was struck and killed by a vehicle while returning home from a nearby shop. His mother, 24-year-old Devi Ramkissoon, described the devastating moment when she learned of her son’s tragic fate.

Speaking with News Room Devi recounted that she was at home when Sahil and his stepfather stepped out to buy some items. Her partner ensured that Sahil was safe and close to home before heading in a different direction. At approximately 12:45 PM, Devi received the shocking news from neighbors that her son had been hit by a motorcar, identified as PAK 6593, driven by a 21-year-old male from Grant 1803 Crabwood Creek.

Rushing to the scene, Devi found her son’s body in a nearby trench. He was quickly transported to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sahil was a beloved student at Crabwood Creek Primary School.

Devi expressed her heartbreak and anger over the incident, stating that the driver fled the scene without offering assistance. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was attempting to overtake another car when it veered off course, colliding with Sahil and sending him into the trench.

“I want justice for my son,” the grieving mother pleaded.

The driver has since been apprehended and is currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation into the tragic event.
