Jesse Gibbs, a 36-year-old security guard employed at the Diamond New Housing Scheme, was arrested on August 17, 2025, and subsequently charged on August 20 with discharging a loaded firearm within 100 yards of a public way.

The charge, filed under Section 153(1) of the Summary Jurisdiction Act, Chapter 8:02, was brought before His Worship Teriq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court. During the proceedings, Gibbs pleaded guilty to the offense.
As a result, he was fined $200,000. The incident raises concerns about firearm safety and regulations within residential areas, prompting discussions about the responsibilities of security personnel and the management of firearms.
