Agriculture Minister Launches AIEP Pepper Jelly at Massy Mega Store

Earlier today, Agriculture Minister Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha officially launched the highly anticipated AIEP Pepper Jelly at the Massy Mega Store in MovieTowne. This vibrant and flavorful product is part of the Agriculture and Innovation Entrepreneurship Programme (AIEP), an initiative spearheaded by H.E. President Dr. Irfaan Ali aimed at empowering young agri-entrepreneurs and transforming Guyana’s agricultural sector.

In his remarks, Minister Mustapha highlighted the broader significance of the initiative. “This program embodies the spirit of innovation, sustainability, and economic empowerment that we seek to cultivate within our nation. Since the launch of the AIEP in 2022, this flagship initiative has stimulated significant economic growth for young agriculturists. The ongoing expansion of the program has yielded impressive results, producing high-value crops such as broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, chili peppers, parsley, and celery,” he stated.

Ms. Shalini Thakur-Jagdeo, Assistant Vice President of Massy Stores, also spoke at the event, praising the collaboration with AIEP as a meaningful contribution to Guyana’s national development goals. “By featuring products from the AIEP, we’re helping to build a stronger, more food-secure Guyana. This initiative goes beyond just products on the shelves; it empowers young agri-entrepreneurs, promotes climate-smart farming, and contributes to our national goal of reducing the food import bill by 25% by 2030,” she remarked.

The AIEP Pepper Jelly, crafted using high-value crops cultivated through climate-smart agricultural practices, represents a unique blend of taste, sustainability, and innovation. This product is a testament to the dedication and vision of young agriculturists who are driving change in Guyana’s food production landscape.
