Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha Dismisses Corruption Allegations Over Home Construction

News

News Source Guyana Reports | Minister of Agriculture and Executive Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party, Zulfikar Mustapha, has strongly refuted claims made by WIN Party Leader Azruddin Mohamed concerning the construction of his residence in Bloomfield, Berbice, and that of his son’s home on the East Bank of Demerara.

Mustapha accused Mohamed of insinuating that his home was acquired through corrupt practices, labeling the assertions made in multiple social media videos as “completely untrue, fallacious, and devoid of merit.”

In response to Mohamed’s concerns about the rapid accumulation of wealth by the minister and his son, Mustapha clarified that the construction of his Bloomfield residence was financed solely through a mortgage from Demerara Bank Limited and his personal savings, which were earned through lawful employment.

“I have dedicated over 35 years of my life to serving the people of Guyana,” Mustapha stated, highlighting his extensive career that spans roles as a Government Minister, Member of Parliament, and Regional Chairman.

Additionally, Mustapha noted his compliance with the Integrity Commission, assuring that he can account for all his assets. Concerning his son’s property, he emphasized that his son, a businessman and medical doctor, adheres to a high standard of accountability and professionalism.

Furthermore, Mustapha criticized Mohamed for attempting to position himself as a guardian against corruption, suggesting instead that the opposition leader should focus on his own purported corrupt practices.

In light of the situation, Mustapha has instructed his legal team to review Mohamed’s social media posts, considering potential legal action to protect his family and himself from what he perceives as defamatory claims.
