ALP Condemns Verbal Attack on Movement Leader Dr. Simona Charles Broomes

at Regional Division 4 ‘B’ Headquarters

In a Social Media Post Via the Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity Page ·  The Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP) strongly condemns the verbal attack on Dr. Simona Charles Broomes and other female members during a live broadcast at the Regional Division 4 ‘B’ Police Headquarters on July 1, 2025. The incident occurred in the presence of law enforcement, who showed alarming indifference when Dr. Broomes attempted to report the abuse.

This failure by the police highlights a growing crisis in public trust and accountability. It comes at a time when women in Guyana are increasingly targeted, often without repercussions.

Dr. Broomes has dedicated over 20 years to defending the rights of women and girls, standing firm against injustice. The ALP stands with her and all women demanding respect and protection.

We will not be silenced. The ALP is committed to ensuring that systems of power serve every citizen equitably and without fear.
