A security officer from Brooklyn, New York has been sentenced to 38 months’ imprisonment and fined $14.18 million after pleading guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Bradley Hibbert appeared before Magistrate Tomika Clarke at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he entered a guilty plea and was subsequently sentenced and fined.
According to the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU), Hibbert was intercepted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in January, when officers searched his three suitcases and discovered several transparent parcels containing 15.758 kilogrammes — approximately 34.74 pounds — of foreign cannabis.
CANU confirmed the details of the case in a release following Tuesday’s court proceedings.
