APNU Presidential Candidate Aubrey Norton announced a housing plan aimed at Guyanese aged 18 and older who earn less than $300,000 to $400,000 per month. At a rally in Lethem, he pledged that eligible individuals would receive a free house lot under an APNU-led government.

Norton emphasized the party’s commitment to empowering citizens, stating, “We want to put people first.” He criticized the current government for initially rejecting proposals that they later adopted.
The housing initiative includes a rent-to-own scheme, allowing residents to pay rent that eventually covers the house’s cost, making it theirs. Norton also promised to enhance access to government contracts for small contractors in the Hinterland and provide skill development for young people.
He highlighted the need to combat poverty, noting that 48% of the population still lives in it, and vowed to create opportunities for all Guyanese.
