At a rally on Friday, APNU candidate Saiku Andrews called for Guyana’s oil wealth to benefit ordinary citizens through direct cash transfers and low-interest business loans. He criticized the PPP government for allowing “friends and favorites” to profit while neglecting the people.

Andrews highlighted corruption and inflated project costs, citing the Ogle bypass road, which he claimed cost $17.1 million per kilometer instead of the projected $7.5 million. He argued that the excess funds could support small businesses.
He pledged that an APNU government under Aubrey Norton would prioritize people-centered policies, including cash transfers. Andrews condemned the PPP’s dismissal of such initiatives and criticized their handling of other issues, like the closure of the Linden Enterprise Network and failures in housing programs.
He promised a 35% wage increase for public servants within 100 days if elected, urging Bartica residents to envision a future of prosperity.
