Police have arrested a suspect as investigations continue into the fatal shooting of businesswoman Desiree Hyman, which occurred on June 18, 2025, at First Street, Mocha.
On July 20, 2025, between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM, law enforcement conducted an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Weedon Oudkerk, a taxi driver from Paradise, East Coast Demerara. Acting on information received, detectives went to Dennis Street, Sophia, where they located Oudkerk.
Upon making contact, officers informed him that he was wanted in relation to the murder of Desiree Hyman. Oudkerk was cautioned but denied any involvement or knowledge of the incident. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Providence Police Station for further investigation.
Authorities continue to gather evidence and conduct inquiries as the case develops.
