Mr. Dhurjon was a distinguished legislative draftsman and played a pivotal role in shaping Guyana’s post-independence legislative framework. His tenure as Chief Parliamentary Counsel, which spanned over four decades, is believed to be the longest in Guyana and possibly the entire Commonwealth.

Having served under every Attorney General, including Nandlall himself from 2011 to 2015, Mr. Dhurjon’s dedication to public service was unmatched. Remarkably, he continued to work until the age of 90, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in legislative drafting.

In recognition of his significant contributions, Mr. Dhurjon was conferred with the title of silk in the 1980s. His work will undoubtedly influence generations to come.

On behalf of the Attorney General’s Chambers, the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and the Government of Guyana, Nandlall extended heartfelt condolences to Mr. Dhurjon’s wife, Mrs. Ananda Dhurjon, who serves as a consultant in the Ministry, as well as to his son, Siand Dhurjon, Attorney at Law, and his other children, grandchildren, and extended family.

“May his soul rest in peace,” Nandlall concluded, paying tribute to a remarkable life dedicated to the service of his country.
