The post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.

A release from the police stated that Tamassar passed away sometime between 07:00 and 09:38 hours on Tuesday at the Bladen Hall School Compound Living Quarters, East Coast Demerara. He was last seen alive at approximately 07:00 by his son, with whom he was residing. Following the discovery of his body, detectives examined it for signs of violence; however, no injuries were identified on the exposed parts of the body. He was subsequently escorted to the Buxton Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Tamassar was a suspect in the investigation into the death of his wife, Lackandai Tamassar, who was found dead on December 31 with stab wounds to her body. Michael was present at the scene at that time and was arrested and placed in custody during the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding both deaths are being closely examined by law enforcement authorities.
