Autopsy Reveals Coretta Blair Sandy Died from Gunshot Wound

The mystery surrounding the death of 34-year-old Coretta Blair Sandy has deepened following an autopsy conducted on Wednesday, which confirmed that the mother of one died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Coretta’s mother, Tricia Sandy, shared the devastating news after receiving a call from Coretta’s father, who is currently in French Guiana working with police to finalize funeral arrangements. “He said a bullet was found lodged in her head,” Tricia disclosed.

Coretta’s body was discovered on Sunday in a swampy area near Cayenne and was in an advanced state of decomposition. Due to the condition of the remains, the family has been informed that her body cannot be transported back to Guyana; instead, she will be laid to rest in Cayenne.

Meanwhile, Coretta’s husband, who traveled with her to French Guiana but returned to Guyana alone, has been released from police custody. Tricia Sandy stated that they visited the Cove and John Police Station, where they learned that he was placed on bail and is now required to report to the station every morning.

Coretta was reported missing earlier this month after traveling to Suriname on May 29 with her husband. She was expected to return to Guyana within a few days but ceased communication with her family, prompting her mother to raise alarm.

Relatives reported that her husband returned to Guyana alone, providing conflicting accounts about her whereabouts. He claimed they were ambushed in Suriname and that Coretta was shot in the head, but he could not specify the exact location of the incident.

A missing persons report was filed, and the case gained public attention after Tricia spoke out about the lack of urgency from authorities. “We usually talk every day. Something wasn’t right,” she expressed to the media.

On June 16, Tricia’s worst fears were confirmed when authorities in French Guiana found her daughter’s decomposing body near the residence she had been staying at. The discovery has intensified pressure on law enforcement in French Guiana to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Tricia reported that she was informed her daughter’s husband would be held for 72 hours pending communication from French Guiana authorities. Concerned about the suspect’s release, the family is now calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into Coretta’s death.
