  • News

I News Guyana Reports : US-sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed acknowledged that he has never received any favors from President Dr. Irfaan Ali. While observing polling day activities, he stated that his family’s past relationship with Ali was merely as “Muslim brothers.”

Mohamed, the presidential candidate of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), is currently facing charges for tax evasion related to the purchase of a Lamborghini. He is accused of undervaluing the vehicle at $75,300 instead of its actual price of $695,000, resulting in significant tax evasion.

Despite his allegations against Ali, the president has denied any involvement, clarifying that Mohamed never presented the correct vehicle value to him or the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA). Mohamed, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, faces additional scrutiny due to US sanctions over gold smuggling and tax evasion.
