Azruddin Mohamed Denies Collusion with PPP/C or APNU Ahead of Elections

  • News

News Source Guyana Reports : Azruddin Mohamed, the presidential candidate for the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, has firmly denied accusations of collusion with the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) or A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) in any “backdoor agreement” ahead of the upcoming elections.

Both the PPP/C and APNU have suggested that WIN is secretly collaborating with them to gain leverage over the next government or parliament. Mohamed responded to these claims in a recent interview, stating, “I am not in no way shape or form aligned with the PPP/C nor the APNU Administration. It is all lies.”

PPP/C General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo has repeatedly accused WIN of being in a “backdoor” agreement with APNU and the Alliance For Change (AFC) to diminish the PPP/C’s influence in government following the elections. Conversely, APNU has raised concerns about Mohamed’s past affiliation with the PPP/C, suggesting that a minority government could potentially see WIN working alongside the PPP/C.

Mohamed characterized the current political environment as desperate, asserting, “Presently, the WIN movement… is for the people. I am in the middle; we have APNU on the right, and PPP on the left. They are so desperate; they know, come September 2, WIN will win the elections.”

WIN’s General Secretary, Odessa Primus, also dismissed claims of collaboration with other parties during the launch of the party’s manifesto. However, she emphasized that WIN would be open to working with any party for the country’s development after the elections. “We have absolutely no association or affiliation with any of those parties. Because we have the best interest of the people of this nation at heart, we are prepared to work with any party as it relates to the development of this country,” Primus stated.

Founded just over three months ago, WIN has garnered support from members of the three major political parties in Guyana, with several APNU+AFC Members of Parliament resigning to join WIN, indicating a shifting political landscape ahead of the elections.
