A rice farmer in Black Bush Polder, Region Six, was the victim of a late-night burglary on Wednesday, with reports indicating that a lone intruder made off with $150,000 in cash.

Nazir Khan, 53, shared that he was at home with his family around 11:15 p.m. when they heard an unusual sound coming from inside their house. Concerned, Khan went to investigate and came face to face with a male intruder in the living room. The house was brightly lit, and the intruder was not wearing a mask, allowing Khan to recognize him immediately.
According to Khan, the suspect appeared to have entered the home by prying open an upper flat window that had been left unlocked. “When we asked, ‘What are you doing here, bai?’ he ran out of the house,” Khan recalled, noting that the suspect had already opened the door to facilitate his escape.
After the intruder fled, Khan checked the house and discovered that $150,000 in cash had been stolen from a bag resting on a chair in the living room. He promptly reported the incident to the Mibicuri Police Station that same night and again the following morning.
Khan expressed his concern regarding the intruder’s reputation, stating that the man is known in the community for committing similar offences and has previously victimized other residents.
“We are hoping the police come and do whatever they have to do. He has to face the full penalty because it’s not easy. If he had come and killed somebody in the house? I don’t know if he had any weapon or if he had one in his waist,” Khan added, highlighting the potential danger of the situation.
