Detectives from Regional Division 4’B’ are investigating the murder of 40-year-old Ryan Fredericks, a boat operator from Mongrippa Hill, Bartica. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Safari Inn Hotel in Friendship, East Bank Demerara.

Fredericks was reportedly killed by a female suspect, whose identity remains unknown at this time. According to preliminary investigations, Fredericks had rented a room at the hotel with the alleged assailant.
On the day of the incident, Fredericks hired fellow boat operator Navindra Kanhai to take him to Parika. They arrived at Parika around 5:45 PM, where they met the female suspect, who was waiting in a black motorcar. The three then traveled to the Safari Inn Hotel, where Fredericks and the suspect booked a room together, while Kanhai took a separate room.
Kanhai reported that between 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM, he was awakened by a knock on his door. Upon checking, he found Fredericks, who informed him that he had been robbed and attacked, showing signs of a severe wound to his left arm.
Emergency services were called, but despite their efforts, Fredericks was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:55 AM. Crime scene investigators noted a deep wound on the inner side of his left upper arm.
The search for the female suspect and the motorcar yielded no results. Kanhai has been taken into custody and is assisting police with the ongoing investigation. The body of Ryan Fredericks has been sent to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
