Alexis De Camp, a 25-year-old resident of Byderabo Road, Bartica, has been charged with driving while his breath alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. This offence falls under Section 39(A)(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, as amended by Act 17 of 2022.
De Camp appeared in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Friday, February 20, 2026, before His Worship Ravindra Mohabir. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently fined $200,000 Guyanese dollars. Should he fail to pay the fine, he faces an alternative sentence of six months’ imprisonment.
