An 87-year-old pensioner from Blairmont Village returned to her home last weekend to find it broken into and ransacked.

Bibi Rahim of Lot 44, Number One Settlement, West Bank Berbice, told reporters that after the death of her son in November 2024, she had been staying with a nearby relative. She said that when she returned to her home last Saturday, she found the interior in disarray, with belongings—including her tablets, bed, documents and other items—scattered throughout the house.
Rahim said she had not been able to confirm whether anything was stolen, adding that she did not find money or jewellery among her missing items. “Me nah know if me lost anything because me nah search fuh nothing. Me nah get money and jewellery,” she said.
She reported that a check of the building revealed a broken lower-floor window, which she believes was used to gain entry, and that one of the doors was also damaged.
Living alone, Rahim said she immediately reported the incident to the Blairmont Police Station. She added that officers promised to visit her home, but that they had not done so at the time she made her report.
