Deodnauth Lall, a 23-year-old businessman from Airy Hall Village, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with possession of a firearm without a license and unlawful possession of ammunition without a license. These charges are in violation of Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05.
Lall was arrested on January 9, 2026, following the discovery of a firearm and ammunition at 105 KM Buckhall Road, Essequibo River.
He appeared today, January 12, 2026, at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where Magistrate Teriq Mohamed read the charges to him. Lall pleaded not guilty to both charges and has been remanded to prison pending further proceedings.
The case has been adjourned to February 6, 2026, for further hearing.
