Police have arrested a 36-year-old businessman from Alexander Village, Georgetown, following an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday that thwarted an alleged kidnapping scheme.
According to a release from Police Headquarters, officers acted on intelligence suggesting that the suspect had orchestrated a plan to have an individual kidnapped. During the operation, investigators discovered that the businessman had allegedly arranged for the crime and had already handed over a sum of cash as a partial payment to carry out the act.
The suspect was taken into custody during the operation, and the cash involved was seized and lodged as evidence. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter to determine the scope of the plot and identify any other potential individuals involved.
