Joshua Taylor, 24, has died from blunt trauma to the head, as determined by an autopsy conducted on Friday. The autopsy findings, performed by pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary, suggest that the injuries may have resulted from a fall or a hit.

Taylor’s body was identified by his mother, Annette Taylor, and his brother, Alec. The post-mortem examination was witnessed by a Detective Woman Sergeant and a Senior Superintendent of Police.
Dr. Singh noted that the blunt trauma could have been caused either by an accident or an altercation. He reported that Taylor’s brain was swollen, which could also be associated with drug use. A sample was taken for toxicology testing, but there were no gunshot wounds or signs of strangulation on the body.
According to information from a primary civilian witness, Taylor was attempting to climb an iron gate approximately seven feet high when his pants became hooked, causing him to fall into the yard of his aunt, Sabrina. He reportedly landed on his head but managed to get up quickly, with a red substance suspected to be blood observed on his forehead.
Earlier reports indicated that Taylor had been involved in an argument with relatives on Thursday morning. In an escalation, he allegedly retrieved a firearm from his father’s room and discharged several rounds into the air. When police patrols arrived at the scene, Taylor fled into a nearby yard, where he was apprehended by a 49-year-old security guard.
After being disarmed, it became evident that Taylor was injured. He was subsequently transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
