During the operation, the driver of a white Volkswagen car, registered as PAL 4117, attempted to escape at high speed. CANU officers immediately pursued the vehicle, which resulted in a collision involving multiple CANU vehicles.

As the chase continued along Sheriff Street, near the intersection with Rupert Craig Highway, officers witnessed the driver discarding a brown cardboard box from the vehicle. Several officers retrieved the box while others maintained their pursuit.

The Volkswagen was ultimately intercepted at the intersection of Rupert Craig Highway and Sheriff Street, with Shaquille Gordon, the sole occupant, behind the wheel.

Officers recovered the brown cardboard box and examined its contents in the presence of the suspects. Upon searching the box, they discovered seven brick-like parcels, suspected to contain cocaine.

Both Shaquille Gordon, the driver of the white Volkswagen, and Ravindranauth Persaud, the driver of a white Pitbull minibus (registration number BAB 6337), were arrested and taken to CANU Headquarters along with the seized substances.

At CANU Headquarters, the suspected narcotics tested positive for cocaine, weighing approximately 8.226 kilograms (or 18.135 pounds).

Investigations are currently ongoing, and CANU remains dedicated to intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting narcotics trafficking and ensuring the safety of communities across Guyana.
