On February 21, 2026, officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) conducted a successful operation in the vicinity of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, resulting in the seizure of two 16-gauge shotguns.

Acting on information received, the officers intercepted two suspects, identified as Jorllis Lacourt and Argenis Perez, both Venezuelan nationals. A search of the suspects revealed the firearms in their possession.
Following the arrest, Lacourt and Perez were handed over to the Guyana Police Force at the Parika Police Station, along with the seized shotguns.
