Capable Leadership and Social Benefits: PPP’s Focus Post-Election Victory, Says Jagdeo

  • News

Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, General Secretary of the ruling People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), has emphasized that translating Guyana’s economic prosperity into social benefits will be a primary focus of the party if re-elected in the upcoming General and Regional Elections.

The PPP/C is one of six parties vying for votes in the 2025 elections. At a press conference on Thursday, Jagdeo asserted that the PPP is uniquely positioned to manage the country effectively amidst rapid economic growth, particularly with the anticipated increase in oil production and the development of other sectors.

Jagdeo highlighted the need for strong leadership to navigate the burgeoning economy and address pressing national issues, including the ongoing border controversy with Venezuela. He underscored the importance of maintaining international support to safeguard Guyana’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“These are going to be the important issues for the future, and you only have a single party with a clearly defined plan for the future, and it’s the PPP/C,” Jagdeo stated.

In addition to economic management, he reiterated the party’s commitment to enhancing social benefits for citizens. While expressing confidence that the PPP/C will win the election “handsomely,” Jagdeo clarified that this belief is not born out of arrogance. Instead, he pointed to the party’s track record of fulfilling promises and responding to the concerns of the populace.

As the election date approaches, Jagdeo’s remarks underscore the PPP/C’s strategy to reassure voters of their capability to lead and deliver on both economic and social fronts.
