Caribbean Airlines has announced the suspension of its service to Venezuela for the remainder of September, though it has not clarified whether operations will resume after the month ends.

In a recent social media post, the airline did not provide a specific reason for the suspension of flights from Port-of-Spain to Caracas. Affected passengers have been informed that they can apply for refunds, re-book travel after the suspension, or be transferred to an alternative carrier.

This decision comes amid heightened military activity by the U.S. in the Caribbean Sea, as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking. Earlier this week, the U.S. conducted an airstrike on a boat allegedly transporting cocaine from Venezuela, resulting in the deaths of 12 crew members, all identified as Venezuelan nationals from a small fishing community.

The U.S. Government is actively seeking regional support for its intensified campaign against narco-traffickers in the area, raising concerns and questions about the implications of such military actions.
