Dr. Yubisleidis Gonzales Morales, a devoted Senior Medical Registrar in the Medical Outpatient Department (MOPD) at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), has been serving patients with unwavering commitment and compassion for nearly a decade.

Graduating as a medical doctor in 1995, Dr. Gonzales Morales began her career with two years of rural service, gaining invaluable frontline experience. She later completed a three-year Family Medicine program, graduating in 2000. Her career reflects a strong dedication to service and lifelong learning, as she has worked internationally in Ghana from 2006 to 2008 and later in Trinidad and Tobago from 2012 to 2015, where she was part of the Accident and Emergency Department at Sangre Grande Hospital.
At GPHC, Dr. Gonzales Morales plays a crucial role in the fast-paced MOPD, which serves nearly 250 patients on peak clinic days. Despite the heavy workload, her passion for helping people drives her to diligently identify health concerns and guide patients toward appropriate care.
The most rewarding aspect of her job, she shares, is witnessing her patients’ improvements. “It’s fulfilling when patients return to tell me they are feeling better,” she notes, emphasizing the significance of quality outpatient care.
For Dr. Gonzales Morales, her affiliation with GPHC holds both personal and professional importance. She appreciates the institution for its diverse cultural environment, which has allowed her to manage urgent and complex cases while honing her medical expertise. GPHC continues to foster her professional growth, enhancing her ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
In MOPD, the most common conditions treated include chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and circulation issues, along with skin-related infections. Many of these conditions, she points out, can be prevented through better hand hygiene and lifestyle practices.
Dr. Gonzales Morales advocates for public health with a clear message: maintain a healthy diet, limit alcohol and cigarette use, adhere to prescribed medications for chronic conditions, and take precautions against mosquito-borne illnesses such as dengue.
To young doctors and healthcare professionals entering the field, she offers simple yet powerful advice: “Medicine requires passion. While the profession can be demanding, a genuine love for helping people is the key to success.”
Dr. Yubisleidis Gonzales Morales’ dedication, experience, and commitment to patient care continue to make a meaningful impact within the Medical Outpatient Department and throughout GPHC, embodying the spirit of service in the healthcare community.
