Edward McCollin, a 47-year-old Chief Security Officer from South Vryheid’s Lust, was granted bail in the amount of $400,000 on Friday after facing charges related to the possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license. These offenses are in violation of Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

McCollin, also known as “Butler,” was taken into custody by police on Thursday, January 1, 2026. During his appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Clive Nurse, the charges were formally read. He pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Following his plea, bail was granted, and the case has been adjourned to February 18, 2026, as the legal process continues.
