The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has issued a Contravention Notice for the immediate closure of an unauthorized supermarket operating at Lot 22, part of Area “L,” Bel Air Village, Plantation Bel Air.

In an official statement, CH&PA indicated that the notice was issued under Section 22 of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 20:01. Investigations revealed that the supermarket was established and operating without the necessary planning permission, marking a clear violation of national planning regulations.
The operator, Kamoul Ramdial, has been informed about the planning permission application procedures available through the Single Window portal for non-residential developments. Although an application was submitted on October 21, 2025, it failed document validation and was not approved.
CH&PA emphasized that formal planning approval is mandatory for all industrial, commercial, and non-residential developments before they can commence construction or operation. This requirement is vital for ensuring orderly development and protecting the wellbeing of surrounding communities.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to enforcing planning laws while expressing its willingness to collaborate with businesses and developers who adhere to proper procedures and comply with established planning frameworks.
